On November 9th 2024 Marine Corps League Sgt. Byron W. Norwood Detachment performed a cake cutting ceremony at the Georgetown Field of honor for the opening day ceremonies.

During the Cake Cutting Ceremony, the oldest and youngest Marines present are invited to participate in the tradition of the passing of the first slice of cake to represent the passing of tradition to the next generation of Marines.
